Challenge #22 Moms and Dads

Spring is finally here, and the trees and flowers are coming up. We don't know about you, but we never thought it was going to happen this year!  Spring brings important days for cards, such as Mother's Day and Father's Day, in honor of which we will soon be releasing brand-new sets. Watch your email and our website starting next week for these fun new releases!

This challenge isn't only about Mother's Day and Father's Day. It's also a great time to plan ahead for the birthday and thank you cards you will want to send to them throughout the year.

But first: The winner of Challenge # 21 is #7, Linda Hardesty, with this handsome card she created for a special little guy in her life -- her grandson, in honor of his First Communion. Thank you to everyone who joined the challenge. We hope you will continue to share your wonderful creations with us!

Linda used her rented set First Communion for her card. Congratulations, Linda, you you will receive a free Raisin Boat stamp set of your choice! Please email customerservice@raisinboat.com with the name and item number of your set selection, as well as your mailing address. (To view your stamp set options, go to www.RaisinBoat.com, click on the Products tab, and click on any category or the catalog link.)

Now for the next challenge: Create a card for your mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, or really any special parent-like figure in your life. Remember that it can be a birthday, special day, or thank you card -- whatever you may need in the coming months! It doesn't have to be limited to a Mother's Day or Father's Day card. You could even make a scrapbook page or a gift. Just remember to do some stamping.

Use any set you have (you don't have to limit your entry to Raisin Boat stamps), but if you use a Raisin Boat stamp set, it will count as two entries. That gives you twice the chance to win a FREE stamp set of your choice! You can enter as often as you like.

Remember, just like Linda, you can rent or buy sets from Raisin Boat. No guilt in using a set for just one project, such as a challenge. We look forward to seeing what you make for those special people in your life.

Here are the upcoming challenges for 2014 to help you get the perfect sets into your rental Pick List:

April: Moms and Dads
May: Graduation

New 3D Stamp Paints will add shimmer and dimension to your projects!

I used to have this dream in college that I was faced with a math exam final at the University of Wisconsin and I had forgotten and/or not attended the class all semester. That is how I felt this morning when I realized I have not published anything on our blog since January 12!  Thank goodness we have Linda Lapotka publishing our monthly challenges for us. She's kept our blog busy with entries to our fun monthly contest.

Kim and I have been very busy the last few weeks preparing and heading out to shows. We've gone as far as Mesa, Arizona last month. We've had a great time at our shows and as well as continuing to service our online customers. We love meeting new people and new customers. It's been great.

Since our last post, we've added new stamp sets and new products. Our latest product intro is 3D Stamp Paint. If you have not used this product yet, you have to get it! It is so fun to use. I did a demo at the Madison Mingle show in Middleton, Wisconsin a few weeks ago and the ladies loved it. We almost sold out of the colors. In fact, the group called me the next day to see if I could bring more for them to purchase.

Once you start working with it, you will want all of the colors. It's fun to use one color, but very exciting to play with all of the colors. It's the blending of the colors that makes the opportunities and results amazing. I really like doing resist techniques and using the paints with our embossing folders, too. The paint is shimmery and blends together beautifully.

Here's a few cards I made, but be sure to check out all of the ideas in our Idea Gallery at www.RaisinBoat.com. Our Idea Gallery lists the colors of paints we used for each card creation.

Here's a link to a video I created showing the "101" of using the paints with embossing folders and also a resist technique project.

If you have not tried this product, you will love it. It's got so many possibilities! Smiles, Bobbi

This could be a card, tag, invitation, scrapbook page, alterable, art journal page -- anything! Use any set you have (you don't have to limit your entry to Raisin Boat stamps), but if you use a Raisin Boat stamp set, it will count as two entries. That gives you twice the chance to win a FREE stamp set of your choice! Here are some creations from the Idea Gallery to get you started:

This bright and happy creation from Linda Lapotka is a perfect way to kick off the "It's a Girl Thing" challenge! Linda used Polka Dots, Gals on Masterpiece Place, Alpha Bold and the nail polish from Girls Rock (she even made the jars shiny - love it!).

Floral Stem Wear Sassy puts a new spin on floral sets, featuring petals with personality! :-) Thanks, Kelly Pitzlin, for showcasing the humor in the set with this adorable card.

Floral Stem Wear Sweet is the gentler counterpart to Floral Stem Wear Sassy above.
This one fits the challenge nicely -- we all know girls love a little retail therapy!

Here's a bold, fresh, and youthful approach for a teen girl, featuring our
Peace and a Smile set. See all supplies used here.

This challenge covers projects for girls of ALL ages, so we're including inspiration for a young recipient. It doesn't get more girly than princesses and fairies, and you'll find both in our sweet Fairy Skies and Party Princess sets.

Our Mirror, Mirror cardstock is perfect for this reflective card, featuring the mirror in Party Princess (cardstock was punched with a standard large oval punch).

Our Words Awhirl set offers several feminine words with small images for accenting, covering many needs (including a cancer symbol for encouragement cards) and occasions.

What would an "It's a Girl Thing" challenge be without some inspiration from our line of gal sets?! This spunky cowgirl is from our Gals on Mountain View Drive set (along with a snow-ski gal). See all supplies used here.

Our '70s and '80s gals from Gals on Flashback Lane will bring back memories and laughs! Christi Rogala paid a great tribute to the '70s with this cute and colorful sample.

All of us in Wisconsin would love to be hitting the beach right about now! We'll have to settle for living vicariously through this beach gal from Gals on Summerset Circle and Goes with Summerset Beach Gal.

You don't always need a lot of color -- black and white does the trick with this quick and striking card, featuring our Gals on Country Club Court and Goes With Country Club Gals sets. This would be adorable with a massage gift certificate.

Summer Lineup includes this string bikini, which "ties in" perfectly with the Baker's Twine! See all supplies used here.

Our Chicken Coop and Chicken Soup sets are an endearing way to honor all of those groovy chicks in your life! See all supplies here.

In celebration of this "It's a Girl Thing" challenge, this final sample featuring All About You honors you and the many amazing women in your lives. See all supplies used here.

We're excited to see your take on this girly theme! Girl Power!

Challenge #19 Valentines

Love is in the air! It's time to play cupid and make some beautiful Valentines to spread that love. This month, we challenge you to share your homemade Valentine cards or treats. The Raisin Boat Idea Gallery has many examples to help get you started, plus amazing stamp sets you can rent or buy.

But first…

The winner of Challenge #18 is #2, Iley Burkett, with this adorable card. Iley used the Raisin Boat background stamp Checkered Tablecloth:

Congratulations, Iley, you will receive a free Raisin Boat stamp set of your choice! Please email customerservice@raisinboat.com with the name and item number of your set selection, as well as your mailing address. (To view your stamp set options, go to www.RaisinBoat.com, click on the Products tab, and click on any category or the catalog link.)

Now for this month's challenge...  Use any set you have (you don't have to limit your entry to Raisin Boat stamps), but if you use a Raisin Boat stamp set, it will count as two entries. That gives you twice the chance to win a FREE stamp set of your choice! You can enter as often as you like.

Remember, you can either buy OR rent Raisin Boat sets -- no guilt in using a set for just one project, such as a challenge or any other project. We look forward to seeing your "Valentine" creativity!

Here are "Valentine-themed" creations from the Idea Gallery to get you started:

Linda used Crunch TimePlaying CupidLove LettersAll about YouHeart AttackAlpha Bold, and Gals on Masterpiece Place  to create this fun slider card. The beauty of our stamp set rental is you can easily and affordably borrow many sets at once for a project like this, without having to buy all of them.

Even sets that are not "Valentine-specific" sets still make fun -- and in this case, mouth-watering -- greetings of love! Here we paired up our new Icing on the Cake set with the heart from Hey, Cupcake! Another new food set is on the way for more Valentine options, so stay tuned...

We decided to show our wild side with the animal print heart in Heart Attack
and the zebra from What a Zoo!

Donna Polley filled our clear box with Hugs and Kisses and add a coordinating tag to match, featuring our Love Letters and Wild About Ewe, Honey sets. Don't miss all of our boxes, bags, bottles and tins for many easy treat possibilities!

Our small pillow boxes fit the Mason jar in Sealed With a Kiss perfectly and give it the effect of a round jar -- just add treats of your choice! Use Brighton Beach White ULTRA cardstock, our sturdiest option, for best results with this free-standing card.

If you love someone who also happens to love chocolate, send them a big "kiss"!
This greeting features Love Letters for the background and Sealed With a Kiss.

Wouldn't this card BEE great for a bee-autiful friend?
Find this sweet little bee in Wild About Ewe, Honey and the flower in Live, Love, Laugh.

Our Words Awhirl "Love" script and the heart balloon from Teatime Treats make a simple and striking card -- especially with a few dabs of Pearl Pen for the dots.

Another quick and easy -- yet eye-pleasing and heart-felt -- way to send a greeting to your "lovebug"! Just stamp Love (from Love Letters) and add a love bug brad, then draw a curlicue with a black LePen.

After stamping the Mason jar from Sealed With a Kiss, we cut it out and taped a small, thin bag (a luggage tag works, too!) filled with butterfly punches behind it. Another piece of cardstock hides the bag on the inside!

S'more Amore for Valentine's day!

Ready for some yummy treats? Our newest Valentine's set is ready for you! S'more Amore includes a delicious donut, mouth-watering s'more and marshmallows ready to roast. Use this set to make cute Valentines - for boys or girls - birthday wishes for the young and older, and camp cards.

Here's a few cards I made using this new set. Let's start with the donut. One or many, they look good enough to eat!

You can even package them up in a box. I put six in a box that I created using my We R Keepers Envelope Punch Board. I used some tissue for the packaging and added tabs to the bottom of each donut that slide into six slits. When the box opens, the donuts pop up!

Now for the s'more. You can really have fun with this one. By adding liquid applique and some Pearl Pen, this image just becomes so touch-tempting tasty! Our flame embossing folder is a perfect background for the s'mores and marshmallows, too.

Have a little fun with this set for those gals you know that would get a kick out of this one...

Here's a few more cards to enjoy using the marshmallows on a stick. This would be fun for camp notes to kids, Valentines and more. I like using the brick background with it, too.
