Treat ideas for St. Paddy's Day

My husband has convinced our twins that we are Irish. His great grandmother did come over from Ireland so I guess he can legitimately claim some part Irish. On St. Paddy's Day he wears green with the kids. We usually make treats for friends to celebrate.

Here's a few ideas for treat packages....

A lollipop is a great background for the leprechauns.
The rainbow colors make for a fun border.
I inserted one Air Heads Extreme candy piece into three
separate 1" x 8" bags and attached them to the back of the cloud design.

Add gold coin chocolates to our 4" X 6" clear pillow box
and add a label and ribbon band for a yummy treat.

Add a stamped topper
to rainbow licorice and a few gold coins
for a perfect St. Paddy's Day treat!
If you are Irish or like to celebrate like the Irish, then enjoy these treat ideas next month! Smiles, Bobbi

If you like the leprechauns in last week's set, you'll appreciate our new set this week. The set is "Go for the Gold" and it includes a new character with accessories such as coins and a mug. It also has a fun-to-color rainbow with a pot of gold.

for more fun looks.

Use the hat from the leprechaun and turn it upside down. Add
clovers and you have a fun card to give! The background
is stamp set, "Full Circle."

This set is not just for St. Paddy's day. Use it for birthdays, graduation and get well wishes. Here's a birthday card I made using this set.

Celebrate St. Paddy's Day with "Cheers to Good Luck!"

Raisin Boat just released a new set for St. Patrick's Day called "Cheers to Good Luck!" It is on sale this week for $11.99 (rental members pay $9.59). It comes with fun leprechauns, a pot of gold and one big beer mug! What I really like about this set is that it can be used not only for the holiday, but also for good luck and birthday wishes, too. You'll get so much more use out of it due to its image combination. Here's a few fun cards for birthdays and other occasions.

White Liquid Applique for the foam makes this card 3-D!

Tip: Add white Liquid Applique to add dimension and realistic qualities to the beer foam!

This card was inspired by Amber Daigre's card using Strokes of Wisdom,
which was recently published in Paper Crafts magazine.

Send some luck with the adorable pot of gold. After being inspired by a recent card designed by Amber Daigre and published in Paper Crafts magazine, I added a rainbow using our set, "Strokes of Wisdom" stamp set to the pot of gold. I love how this turned out. (Amber used the same set to create a "thank you card").

Tip: Add Glitter Liner in gold to the coins to make them stand out and sparkle!

If you are looking to just send some good old-fashion Irish wishes to a friend, here are some ideas....

Line them up and color one green for a "Go Green" card on
St. Paddy's Day! Highlight the beer using a 2-color approach.

Who doesn't like a little green beer on St. Paddy's Day?! This is just a fun card to make for those who like to celebrate with a little brew.

Here's a few more that are certainly not short on character with these leprechauns!

Use our Sign Uni-Ball White Pen to make polka dot pattern paper.

Add sparkle to the clovers using our Glitter Liner in Gold, Emerald and Peridot.

Create a scene in a box to highlight the little things
like this sparkly clover.

Tip: Use Viva Decor Glitter Liner in Gold, Emerald and Green to make the coins and clovers sparkle! These three colors of Glitter Liner are on sale now at 20% off.

I had so much fun with our new set, "Cheers to Good Luck!" I love to color with Copics and this card lets you do that. You can get creative with the characters' outfits and faces and the beer mug by using different methods of coloring. The best part is that this is not a set that can only be used in March. It's one you can use all year long!

Butterfly Valentine

My daughter is in search of the perfect valentine for her girlfriends at school. Last night, she wanted us to try butterflies. Here's what we came up with. We used M&Ms in the 1" X 8" Clear Bags. We cut the bag down to fit our butterfly body.

The design on the wings was stamped using Raisin Boat stamp set, "Live, Love, Laugh." Pipe cleaners and fuzz balls finish the butterfly!  Smiles, Bobbi

Fun Valentine Cards for Kids

This week, I've made some valentines using some of our alterable products such as clear bags and tubes. There's a few for boys and girls. These are super easy to make and fun to give. They would work great for classroom valentines. If you have kids with food allergies, consider giving pencils for classmates. Take a look....

Soccer Field Valentine

For the soccer player, I used two colors of pencils and inserted them into our 1" X 8" Clear Bags. Two pencils fit perfectly. I stamped the net and soccer balls from the set, "Hitting and Kicking." I add grass and a phrase to the back and I was done!
Two green colors of pencils make a great field for this soccer valentine!

Score with this fun Valentine for boys or girls!

You're a Keeper Valentine

Another idea is to use our medium-sized Pillow Box and add Swedish Fill to the "lake." I used the set, "Goes with Summerset Beach Gal" for the background waves. The tag features images from the set, "Go Fish." I used Baker's twine to attach the tag. You could make this same valentine in a smaller size for little ones by simply using our small Clear Pillow Box.

The darker blue waves on the outside of the pillow box is made using our new Glass Effects Gel from Viva Decor. This stuff is soooo fun to use, but plan ahead. It takes 3-4 hours for it to dry! It's transparent and looks like water so it makes great waves for this valentine!

Use Clear Pillow Boxes to make a fun fish valentine. Use Glass Effects Gel
to add waves to the outside of the box.

Valentine Blossom

Make a bouquet of flowers to take in to school. Each flower can be a valentine to hand out! I used the 1" X 8" Clear Bags and added candies (Skittles or M&Ms work great). The stem is strong and holds any size flower up so I went big! I cut out a flower, attached to the stem. Added the Polka Dot green ribbon for the leaves, added a gingham bow. That's it. The stamp set, "Love Letters" was used for the "to" and "from" phrases. The butterfly is from the set, "Sealed With a Kiss."

Make a bouquet of these cute valentines using bags and ribbons
from Raisin Boat.

Out of this World Valentine

Use the Clear Tubes to make the body of a rocket. Add flames and a top and you've got a rocket! I used M&Ms inside the tube. I hand picked the colors to make the candies striped. The tag is made using stamp set, "Opportunity Knocks" and "Alpha Bold" for the phrase.

To add intensity to the flames, use Memento Lady Bug ink pad and brush it along the BoatHouse Collection(TM) Orange Tree cardstock using the Direct-to-Paper method. For added interest and texture, I stamped the blue top arrow section using an image from set, "Splash," too.

Add candies to our tubes to make these fun valentine rockets.

 Princess Wand Valentine

Every princess needs a wand so why not make wands for your valentines this year? Add pencils to our 1" X 8" Clear Bags for a strong wand. Then add a heart to the top and our pretty princess from the set, "Party Princess." Ribbon and rhinestones finish it off.
Use pencils for the wand using our 1" X 8" Clear Bags.
Adding bling for a Princess is always a good choice!

Hot Valentine

This valentine is probably more suited for an adult due to it's "hot" theme. I think this would be cute to give to your significant other. I used the set, "No Limits" for the thermometer and then our 1" X 8" clear bags for the M&Ms. I first added the red candies then switched to white ones at the top to look like a true gauge. This is a fun one!

Use "No Limits" to make a fun valentine for your
significant other!

Have fun making your valentines this year. We'd love to see what you make! Smiles, Bobbi

Pillow boxes make great jars!

I was playing around with one of our new stamp sets, "Sealed With a Kiss" and found a great combination - the jar image and our small Clear Pillow Boxes. They work perfectly together! The pillow box allows you to put 3-D items inside the jar, easily. Plus, the box bows out so you get the look of a round jar for more cool effects.

I tried this out the other day when I needed a retirement card. I made the following card for my friend who is retiring at the end of the month. It's a "jar" of change to help with her retirement fund. She got a kick out of it!
Create a Jar by combining the jar, from "Sealed With a Kiss"
and the small Clear Pillow Box.

I decided to try the same concept for a Valentine's Day card. I combined the jar with "Sweet Treats." I added Skittles to the jar and then punched out bright candies to attach to the front of the card. The pillow box slides right in on the side.

Use our Brighton Beach White Ultra cardstock to make this card.

If you decide to try this, here are a few tips to consider....

  • Use BoatHouse Collection(TM) Brighton Beach White ULTRA cardstock to make this card. The extra firmness of the cardstock works great. The card stands beautifully. While any of our papers will work, I loved using the ULTRA the best!
  • Cut out the center of the jar THEN punch out holes on the sides of the jar neck for the ribbon. This will allow you to reach the interior areas of the card.
  • I created a template to show where to score your paper.
Use this template to create the jar card.
Gingham ribbon from Raisin Boat, too!
