Liquid applique pairs nicely with our new floral sets

I remember using liquid applique years ago on my holiday cards. The white applique looks like snow and in Wisconsin that's a likely winter scene! At Raisin Boat we not only offer liquid applique in white, but in yellow, hot pink, brown, blue, red, orange, green and more! We sell it in all these fantastic colors because liquid applique isn't just for snow anymore! From our product page link (above) click on any color to see how we've used it with some of our favorite Raisin Boat sets.

If you visit our Idea Gallery at www.RaisinBoat.com, you will see how we've used liquid applique on cinnamon rolls, ATVs, cupcakes, banana splits.... It also works great with our new floral sets, too. Inspired by a card that Kim made me for my birthday a week ago, I decided to give applique a try on a couple of my own cards, too. Take a look...

Our first card is the one that Kim made for me using Raisin Boat set, Hydrangea Bouquet. She used liquid applique in white and added a drop to each petal. Once heated, the applique puffed out to make a lovely and very dimensional hydrangea. For all the materials used for this card, visit the card in our idea gallery. Another idea - use our applique in violet and blue for a varied hydrangea blossom.

Inspired by Kim's card, I used liquid applique in yellow to make the daisy center on the next card. Wondering where this gerber daisy came from? It's actually in a set called, "Oops a Daisy" that we are releasing tomorrow! (It's a super cute new stamp set!) Click here for a list of products used on this card.

I also used black liquid applique to make the fuzzy poppy centers in the next card using Blissful Blossoms (on sale through today at 20% off). Just a touch of applique and you get very interesting and dimensional flowers. I love this product and love having it in all the fun colors, too. Remember, you have to use a heat gun to heat the product. A hair dryer will not work because it will not get hot enough to heat-set the applique. Click here for a list of products used on this card.

Stock up on all of the colors of applique, then add it to your next projects. You'll love the result! Smiles, Bobbi

Poppies...worth the wait!

I waited over 3 years to get a poppy to grow in my flower garden. (I'm not a good gardener!) When it does bloom, it does not last very long. However, the vibrance of the bloom is so beautiful in my garden that it's worth the wait. I feel the same way about the new poppy in Blissful Blossoms. Once our poppy is colored, it is all worth the time! I made this scrapbook page of a sweet little girl I know. Isn't she a cutie? I love the contrast of the poppies on the white cardstock, next to the black and white photo.

I also used Raisin Boat stamp set, "Words Awhirl." For a list of the products used including links to them, visit our idea gallery. Here's a link to the gallery page for the details.

Blissful Blossoms for the Special Day

Blissful Blossoms is a beautiful set to use when sending wishes to those special couples on their wedding day. This set works for weddings or anniversaries. I used our new Paper Pens and Pearl Pens in all three of these projects. I love these pens because I can add pearls anywhere - without worrying about the cost! Pearls are a nice way to add elegance to wedding cards. Here's a few cards I made using this set.

Stamp the rose in white on dark colored cardstock for a lovely background. I used our Elephant Safari cardstock. Add Paper Pen pearls in Silver (or Pearl Pen in Silver Chrome) to add sparkle. A silver rhinestone finishes off the center of the pink flower.

In the next card, I colored the roses in shades of pink. I used Copic R20 and R81. I also added Copic G43 and G00 for the leaves. Paper Pen in Lime Green adds dimension around the oval cut-out. Our BoatHouse Collection(TM) grosgrain ribbon in 1/4" comes in colors to match our cardstock. I used Sweet Cheeks here.

I actually used a doily for the focal point in this next example. I had a few left from Valentine's Day treats. :) Pearl Pen in Light Green circles the heart. A silver metal heart finishes it off.

I hope you liked these cards! Have a great day. Smiles, Bobbi

Go Chevron with Edgy Accents!

One of the hottest trends this year is chevron. A chevron pattern adds a bold and graphical splash in home decor, clothing, and scrapbook pages. Look around - you'll spot it everywhere this year including rugs, walls, pillows, skirts and sweaters, too!

Here's just a few examples where chevron adds just the right touch to make a look go from great to fabulous!

Sources: Sugarlaw.com, Catherinenicole.com, moxieq.com, sasinteriors.net,
uniquebeachwedding.com, thatssmartdeco.com

You can use this wonderful pattern on your scrapbook pages and cards, too. Our latest release, "Edgy Accents" includes a small and larger image that work great for creating chevron patterns.

Just released - "Edgy Accents" for scrapbookers and
cardmakers, too!

Take basic cardstock and turn it into designer pattern paper simply by stamping a consistent, repetitive pattern on your page. Here's a few designs I recently created with this fun pattern. What I love is that it is gender neutral -it works great for feminine and masculine designs.

To make the scrapbook page, I created a chevron pattern using
Pigment White ink on our BHC Tiki Hut 12" X 12" paper.  I also
used the images to create the design strips
to complement the background design.

Make a pocket card using the smaller Chevron pattern from the set.
Add extra touches using "All in Toile" and "Tag You're It!" stamp sets.

Have fun with these images. Create grasses and landscapes.
Dress up an egg for Easter This cards features
the bunny from "Bunny Hop"!
Create a background for a simple embellishment such as this
glitter chipboard letter. I added BHC Sky View ribbon and
a few aquamarine rhinestones for extra bling!
Add stitching lines and other touches to turn this pattern into beautiful treasures!

Have fun with chevron. It's a bold and lively design to shake up any project! Smiles, Bobbi

Purse Boxes for birthdays and holidays!

My daughter is getting to that age where she has very specific tastes in clothing. Buying gifts for her and her friends is getting more difficult. Given that, I like to find interesting ways to give a gift card instead. You can never go wrong with a gift card. It always fits and the girls love to shop!

Raisin Boat offers a Clear Purse Box that is so cute for young girls and older girls, too! Stamp a pretty tag to go with it and adorn with our matching BoatHouse Collection(TM) ribbon. Lastly, add fun designs to the outside of the box using Pearl Pens, Paper Pens, Glitter Liner or Glass Effect Gel. This is easy to do. In fact, I let my 9-year old daughter do it for her friends' gifts. It's fun....but plan some time for it to dry. I let them sit for a couple of hours to make sure they are nice and dry before giving the gift.

The first one includes a gift card to Justice. We matched the colors from the gift card for the tag and box for a coordinated look.

Add a gift card holder in the box. See below for the pattern.
This tag was made using "Wish Big" stamp set and
colored using Copics. BoatHouse Collection(TM) ribbon
adorns the box. tag.

It's easy to add dots in simple line for this fun box. The tag was
made using stamp set, "Wish Big."
Use Glass Effect Gel in yellow on the purse box and on the tag. I used
the gel for the candle flames.

To make the gift card stand up nicely inside the box, I made a gift card holder using our Brighton Beach White cardstock in Ultra (heavier weight cardstock) to support the card. Here is a pattern to make it. You can make this in any size to fit your box.

You can also use our Clear Purse Box for the holidays, too. I made one for Easter and used
Pearl Pens on the box. Pearl Pens have a "pearl", matte finish. We offer them in these
soft spring colors. They look great with these chocolate candy eggs. I also used the Pearl
Pens on the tag to dress up the egg image from "Bunny Hop."

This would also be a fun bridal or baby shower gift for party guests, too.

Use Pearl Pens to enhance your clear boxes and tags.
They add a raised, dimensional, matte-finish pearl to your projects!
Have fun creating one-of-a-kind gifts for friends and family. You'll impress them with your creativity! Smiles, Bobbi
