Autumn in Wisconsin

Autumn is here in Wisconsin. The leaves are changing and the colors are gorgeous. I love the Fall season. My kids are back in school and I have a little more time to design!

Yesterday, I got out one of our popular sets called, "Arboretum Leaves." This set was inspired by a walk we took in the Arboretum Park near our home (hence the name). I made the following cards with my studio's windows open, a nice fall breeze coming in and the sounds of  Fall outside.

For my first card, I stamped a background pattern using the leaves in the stamp set, "Arboretum Leaves." I also have these wonderful leaf dies by Spellbinders that I used as my focal point. BoatHouse Collection (TM) Cardstock by Raisin Boat in Coffee Bean, Pear Salad and Tropical Sunset were used to make the leaves.

To anchor the leaves, I stamped a cross-section of a tree trunk from the stamp set. Burlap String in natural and a few acorns complete the look.

This next card uses the cut-out waste from the Pear Salad leaf in the card above. I cut it down and stamped a phrase from "Arboretum Leaves" inside. The background leaves were stamped using Pear Tart Memento ink. Our Tipped Black Brown ribbon finishes off the card.

Remember the large leaf in Coffee Bean cardstock in the first example? Well, the cut-out waste from that leaf frames the eagle from "Strokes of Pride" in my next project. I brayered the background first using Memento inks - Dandelion, Tangelo, Pear Tart and Olive Grove (one of the new colors introduced this year). Next, I stamped the eagle. I should have waited a bit longer to stamp and emboss. You can see my black powder stray marks around the eagle which can happen if your ink is not fully dry. Oh well...It's still a striking card. :)

To make the brown layer a bit more distressed, I did add some black pigment ink to the leaf cutout piece. I like the look a lot. These little pigment inks are some of my favorite products. Chestnut and black are my favorite go-to pads. They are very inexpensive, too!

Hope you enjoyed a little look at my "Autumn" today! Enjoy yours no matter where you live! :) Smiles, Bobbi

Challenge #4 3D

It's time for another fun challenge here at the Raisin Boat Blog! This month, we want to see your best 3-D project -- boxes, tins, bottles, notebooks, home decor items, gift bags, bookmarks, cards with added dimension or depth, anything, as long as it is 3-dimensional.

Raisin Boat offers a great selection of fun alterable products, if you're looking for something to "dress up" with your stamps. Check them out here! They make perfect goodies for Halloween and Christmas, which will be here before you know it!

Before we get to more details on the 3-D challenge, let's announce the winner of last month's challenge. It was lucky number #2 -- Dianne R. -- with this wonderful card featuring our "In Loving Memory" stamp set (the words "today and always" are from our "Strokes of Wisdom" set):

Dianne, you will receive a free Raisin Boat stamp set of your choice!
Please email customerservice@raisinboat.com with your set name and mailing address.

Something NEW this month... you can use any stamp set you have (you don't have to limit your entry to Raisin Boat stamps). That's right, use any stamp set you wish for this 3-D challenge, but if you use a Raisin Boat stamp set, it will count as two entries. That gives you twice the chance to win a stamp set of your choice!

Need a little inspiration? The Raisin Boat Design Crew Team has these great ideas to share with you!

If you need more ideas, visit the Raisin Boat Idea Gallery.

Now it's your turn! Create any 3-D project and link it below. Remember, you don't have to use Raisin Boat stamps, but if you DO, you will get TWO chances to win a SET of your choice!
